It has been teased several times in the past that AMC will start accepting crypto, including Bitcoin, Ether, and Litecoin, for the sake of people purchasing tickets and whatnot. But there wasn’t any execution of this task in an official manner by the AMC until now. The cinema giant has finally accepted crypto in an official capacity as a mode of payment where people will be able to purchase movie tickets and other various services offered by AMC by paying in crypto. At the moment, the cryptocurrencies which the cinema giant will be accepting are Bitcoin, Ether, and Litecoin.
This move comes as a solid remark for crypto enthusiasts referring to the use of their crypto for other than it increasing in value over time and then chipping away their tokens for the sake of profit. Adam Aron has mentioned the whole thing in a recent tweet congratulating fans and people who were eccentric about this adoption and integration of cryptocurrencies into the platform. There were also talks of Dogecoin becoming a part of this transition, but sadly it couldn’t be at the moment.
AMC will also Accept Dogecoin
When asked about it, Adam said that the next crypto to be accepted as a mode of payment by AMC would be Dogecoin. There are talks about adding Shiba Inu too because of its ever-growing community and the recent overtaking of the market capitalization of Dogecoin by Shiba Inu. The plan to adopt and accept crypto was first hinted at by the cinema giant back in August, and after a few months, it is finally a reality.
The crypto payment option will stay side by side with the fiat payment options such as PayPal, Google, and Apple Pay, and the payment could be done via the website and official mobile app of the AMC. One would think that after such an eccentric adoption of cryptocurrencies as a mode of payment, the stock price of AMC would skyrocket, but that is not the case; in fact, the stock price of AMC is already down 17% this week. It might take some time for the market to adjust itself with this pretty significant news of AMC adopting crypto as it seems.
